 "I'm the proud parent of an aging bulldog who suffered bilateral partial cruciate tears prior to me adopting him. Shortly after, his left patella luxated and the boarded surgeon I worked for at the time proceeded with the repair.

 

However, arthritis had already set in and there have been periods, even on rimadyl and dasaquin, that he could not walk at all until I got him to grass. Even then, positioning was difficult. This broke my heart because the last thing I want is for him to suffer. ..... One day a client came in for a routine recheck for her aging dog and his limp. He was so full of energy he wouldn't stay on the exam table. I asked her what she was using and she said canine growth hormone. I thought, well, this is something I've never heard of. It must be a gimmick...... I could not calm him down. Eventually he couldn't stand. At first I thought he must have hurt his knee. I immediately began researching orthopedic braces, $3000 I don't have and a casting process. I was determined that a bad knee wasn't going to be the end for my baby.   But as time went on, on observation and my own examination, it became obvious that he was ataxic. ..... I cried all night as he was frantic and nothing I could do soothed him. I carried him out. I fed him from a plate so he wouldn't have to navigate a bowl and I gave him water from a shallow bowl that I held up for him. He degraded to the point that he had no prioception in the front or in the back.......there was no way that I could support a 70 pound bulldog. I was in tears........ Then I remembered the growth hormone. The client hadn't given me a name so I researched until I found it. My fiancé was skeptical. I was hopeful.  We ordered it right away. After a couple of days, he was up to his bulldog antics and jumping on and off my bed ( to my dismay, fearing he'd hurt his knee ), but ever the proud bully, he didn't want my help. He started playing with his chihuahua bestie. 

 

He acted like he lost 5 years in a few days.

 

His daddy goes to the bottle and he will leap ( as I cringe ) and run to get at those delicious miracle tablets. 

 

We started my chihuahua/corgi on them and he had some periods of arthritis, but he wasn't ailing at the time so there wasn't a miraculous change. But he finds them delicious and I'm more than happy to treat him. Even my chihuahua, who is young, but has a luxating patella that every once in a while causes a little limp - loves them. I'll be repeating land on my bulldog at some point soon. But with a product that had so increased his quality of life, it will be hard to convince me to take him off. I believe in quality of life over quantity. And his quality couldn't be better. 

When it's his time, I'll proudly know that not only did I offer him every veterinary option I could but that I gave him the gift of feeling great from researching a product the vets didn't know existed.
